 Spindle Control

The little machine shop not only supply a full individual set of spare parts for the x3 mill. But as far as  i can see, they are the only supplier of a plug in board to connect the existing speed control drive to a CNC interface.

The input to this is a standard 10 volt analogue voltage, which can be found as  a PWM output on many of the commercial CNC break out boards.

Unfortunately doing this does disable the touch front panel, which I then replaced, by a few switches and a pot, to provide a manual override, should I need it.

It’s a shame the makers of the x3 mill won't release the full circuit, as with this it would be possible to rewire the original membrane front panel for manual use.
